Please be aware that you must be compliant with all immigration rules and regulations to complete your enrollment at Bocconi and come to Italy. Please visit http://vistoperitalia.esteri.it/home/en where a guided procedure will help you decide if you need to apply for a visa and where, based on your nationality, country of residence, reasons for your visit, and length of stay.
If you are enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master's of Science program, regardless of your date of arrival in Milan, you MUST submit your application on the Universitaly Portal by and no later than 30 September 2025. However, we recommend that you apply as soon as you have all the documents required for the procedures.
If you are enrolled in a Specialized Master's program, you must submit your application via Universitaly according to the timeline of your program.
If you are an incoming visiting student taking single courses, you must follow the timeline of the semester you are attending.

- From here, you can click on the “Pre-enrolment application” link and again on the “New pre-enrollment application” green button
For the registration, we remind you that you must enter your personal data exactly as shown on your passport with all your names and surnames.
Then you will need to fill out a 3-step form:

STEP C:
Provide information on your educational qualifications and upload them to the system. Please note that in this section, you have to upload the same documents requested for your Bocconi enrollment application (see below). We highly recommend that you start your application on Universitaly only when you already have all the documents required for the procedure.
For students enrolled in a BACHELOR PROGRAM, these may include:
- Bocconi admission result and a Confirmation letter that you can print out from the Bocconi Admissions Portal.
- The last three years of secondary school transcripts.
- Final secondary school diploma and/or official proof of graduation.
For students enrolled in a MASTER OF SCIENCE PROGRAM, these may include:
- Bocconi admission result and Confirmation letter that you can print out from the Bocconi Admissions Portal.
- Most updated University transcripts.
- Bachelor's diploma and/or official proof of graduation.
- Diploma supplement (if available).
For students enrolled in a SPECIALIZED MASTER'S PROGRAM, these may include:
- Bocconi admission result and Confirmation letter that you can print out from the Bocconi Admissions Portal
- Most updated University transcripts
- Bachelor's or Master of Science diploma (according to the program of enrollment)
- Diploma supplement (if available).
For students accepted as incoming VISITING STUDENTS (SINGLE COURSES):
- Official Admission results that can be downloaded directly from the Bocconi Admissions Portal.
On the Universitaly portal, you will be asked to select the type of document you are uploading. If you cannot find the proper option, please select “Other” (for example: the Bocconi official Admission result, Confirmation letter).
In case you have been awarded with some sort of financial aid and/or accommodation from Bocconi Fees, Funding & Housing Office, please upload the official result in the Universitaly application.
All documents are required both in their original language and in English or Italian. If the documents are not issued by the school/university in English or Italian, they should be legally translated.
Once you have submitted the application through the Universitaly Portal, the Admissions Office will verify the information you entered in the following weeks:
- In case some of the required documents are missing or your personal data is incorrect, you will be required to integrate the pre-enrollment application with the missing information and resubmit it.
- In case the information entered and the documents uploaded are correct, the application will be "validated" and sent to the competent Italian authority in your home country.
Once the application has been validated, it will be sent to the Italian Authority you selected as in charge of your visa procedure. After this step, you will receive a confirmation from the system, and only after that, you will be able to download the “Pre-enrollment receipts” directly from the Universitaly portal. You will then need to get in contact with the same Italian Authority to book your visa appointment and to complete the pre-enrollment procedure. As a matter of fact, the student visa procedure does not consist only of the application to Universitaly, but it includes further steps to be completed at your Embassy/Consulate.
With reference to the need of providing a Declaration of Value (DoV), please refer to the Admissions Office and/or the notifications in your enrollment application to verify if you have been asked to provide such document. Through your application on the Universitaly Portal, the Admissions Office will inform the Italian Authority in charge of your procedure on whether or not a DoV is requested. We remind you that as alternative to DoV, the Statement of Comparability issued by CIMEA is also accepted.
We remind you that, as soon as you receive your student visa, you will be asked to provide a copy to the Admissions Office. This is compulsory to finalize your enrollment.
Without such a document, your enrollment will remain under “reserve”.
IMPORTANT: For technical assistance on Universitaly, please contact the Help Desk.
Within 8 working days from your arrival in Italy holding a valid student visa, you must apply for a permit of stay for study purposes ("Permesso di soggiorno per motivi di studio").
The application for the permit of stay must be submitted at a competent Post Office. After the application, you will receive 1 or 2 payment receipts and a sheet with the date of your appointment at the local Police Office “Questura - Ufficio Stranieri”.
Further guidance about this procedure will be provided during the Welcome Days at the end of August 2025.
Please note that, after the application at the Post Office, you are required to upload the receipts and the sheet with the appointment date at “Questura” in the dedicated section in your enrollment application. These documents are compulsory to finalize your enrollment.

DECLARATION OF VALUE FOR ENROLLMENT IN A BACHELOR OF SCIENCE PROGRAM
The Declaration of Value (DoV) is an official document (written in Italian) that confirms the validity of the diploma, and it is issued by the competent Italian Authorities (Embassy/Consulate/Italian Cultural Institute) in the country to which the educational system of the school refers.
When required, and to complete the enrollment, the DoV is a compulsory condition for the secondary school diploma to be considered valid.
The Declaration of Value must include the following information:
- legal status and nature of the awarding institution.
- The final diploma has been awarded after at least 12 years of education.
- The diploma is valid to pursue studies in a 1st level degree program in the country to which the educational system of your school refers (i.e., Bachelor programs).
- If required, that you have passed the needed qualifying academic exam for university admission (i.e., Gaokao, YKS, Veveosi Prosvasis, Vestibular, etc.).
Admitted students are strongly recommended to get in touch with the Italian Authorities (Embassy/Consulate/Italian Cultural Institute) right after the admission for information about deadlines and procedures to request a valid DoV for the diploma.
In case the DoV is not required, non-EU applicants are still kindly invited to check anyway with the Italian Authorities (Embassy/Consulate/Italian Cultural Institute) in their country if a DoV is required for the Student Visa procedure.
The DoV must be provided to the Admissions Office by no later than late August/early September 2025.
Please note that Italian Embassies/Consulates do not submit any documents to the Italian Universities. Admitted students must submit the documents directly to Bocconi University through the enrollment application.
DECLARATION OF VALUE FOR ENROLLMENT IN A MASTER OF SCIENCE PROGRAM
The Declaration of Value (DoV) is an official document (written in Italian) that confirms the validity of the diploma issued by the competent Italian Authorities (Embassy/Consulate/Italian Cultural Institute) in the Country to which the educational system of your University refers.
If you are studying, for example, in a U.S. University in Europe or Asia, the Italian Authority in charge will be the territorially competent Italian Consulate/Embassy in the United States.
When specifically required in the admission “Result”, the Declaration of Value (DoV) is a compulsory condition for enrollment.
The Declaration of Value usually includes the following information:
- legal status and nature of the awarding institution: the University awarding the diploma is legally accredited in the Country to which the educational system of your undergraduate University refers (nationally valid in the Country);
- requirements needed for admission to the program ending in the qualification concerned;
- legal duration of studies (i.e., Bachelor program 3-4 years long) and global workload in hours/credits;
- validity of the qualification in the awarding country for academic and/or professional ends.
If you are asked to provide the Admissions Office with the Declaration of Value, please note that this document should be related to your undergraduate academic path (Bachelor level) only and not to your Secondary School diploma, unless you are asked so by the competent Italian Authorities.
As an alternative to the Declaration of value, if the home University of the student has adhered to the so-called “Bologna Process”, we can evaluate to accept the “Diploma Supplement Document”.
The Diploma Supplement is not a further qualification, but a particular certification produced following a template that was agreed upon by the three principal international organizations of European breadth (The Council of Europe, UNESCO – Europe region, European Union). The European DS model envisages that it is drafted in two or more languages (the national language of the Country in question and at least one commonly-spoken foreign language, such as English) and that it provides a whole list of very detailed information.
The information is grouped into 8 categories, which run from the personal details of the qualification holder, to the level of the qualification itself, the curriculum (list of subjects and, if possible, their principal contents), the rights it bestows (utilization for further studies or in the workplace), to the type of issuing institution, and to an abbreviated description of the higher education system it belongs to.
We strongly recommend students submit the Declaration of Value/Diploma supplement to the Admissions Office as soon as they have it, uploading it on the My Application - Admission Portal by the end of August/beginning of September 2025.
Please note that a Statement of Comparability issued by CIMEA (the Italian NARIC Center) is considered a valid alternative to the declaration of value. The Statement of Comparability can be easily requested on the CIMEA website.
