Two authorities' presidents (Marcello Cardani from AGCOM, Autorità per le garanzie nelle comunicazioni, the communication authority, and Giovanni Pitruzzella from AGCM, Autorità garante della concorrenza e del mercato, the competition authority), a secretary general (Giuseppe Busia from Autorità garante per la protezione dei dati personali, the privacy authority) and some twenty practitioners and academics, including the former privacy authority's president, Franco Pizzetti, will be the actors of "Internet: regole e tutela dei diritti fondamentali", the conference to be held at Bocconi on December 14th (9 a.m., Aula Perego, via Sarfatti 25).

The conference has been organized by Oreste Pollicino, who will be the editor of the proceedings.

RULES, Bocconi's Research Unit on Law and Economics, has organized the conference in order to "promote a scientifically-based and nimble reflection on safeguards in the Internet", RULES' director, Maurizio Del Conte, said.

RULES is a research unit established this year in order to research topics involving both law and economics, not often at the centre stage of mainstream research.

"We plan to publish a working papers series including the speeches of the guests of our conferences", Del Conte says, "and eventually to publish research papers. In our first months we have organized meetings on topics which range from regionalism to authorities and administrative simplification. One of the next will cover the effects of the crisis on European labour law systems".
